Adjustment

Restores or normalizes spinal joint function, induces relaxation, may help to normalize internal organ function, allow the body to perform to its optimum capacity. There are many forms of manipulation from non-force to high velocity. With the assistance of an adjusting device or solely by hand. What is chosen depends upon your condition, age, complications or what has worked for you in the past.

Superficial Heat

Hot packs, warm moist towels, heating pads, water bottles, & infrared lamps are often used to raise the temperature of soft tissues. Heat applied to the surface of the skin enlarges blood vessels below the surface, relaxing tissues, and can relieve painful symptoms. This is helpful before & after chiropractic adjustments, exercises, or other treatments. It is recommended for relaxation of tissues in spasm, & temporary relief of symptoms associated with chronic pain & stiffness. Heat is an easy way to increase flexibility, range of motion, & promote increased circulation to speed the healing process.
Patient benefits: Increase circulation; relax muscle tension; reduces joint stiffness; prepares tissues for rehabilitation; widely available & patient can perform at home

Cryotherapy

Describes the application of ice, cold towels, ice massage, & compresses to reduce the temperature of tissues directly on or below the skin surface, This constricts blood vessels, numbs painful areas, & helps relax muscle spasms. Cold temperature reduce nerve transmission of painful symptoms & provide temporary relief. It is used to manage acute injuries or recent eruptions of chronic conditions. Helps to prevent post-traumatic swelling.
Patient benefits: Reduce swelling and inflammation; numbs affected area to reduce pain; reduces muscle spasms; can be self applied at home, several times per day

Microcurrent Therapy

Microcurrent Therapy uses extremely small amounts of electrical current (millions of an amp) to help relieve pain and heal soft tissues of the body. The therapy produces electrical signals like those naturally occurring when the body is repairing damaged tissues. Because an injury changes the normal electrical activity, Microcurrent helps the healing process of soft tissue & relieves pain.
Patient benefits: Speeds up healing process; reduces swelling & inflammation, masks acute & chronic pain; releases muscle trigger points; improves soft tissue regeneration.

Ultrasound

Treatment using high-frequency sound waves administered in the region of the soft tissue. Sound vibrations penetrate the tissue deep in the body, creating a heat response. These vibrations and heat help break down and disperse unhealthy calcium and other hard tissue accumulations. It will increase blood flow, relax muscles, massage damaged tissues, and speeds the healing process.
Patient benefits: Effective on calcium deposits; stimulates healing without irritation; speeds metabolism and improves blood flow; reduces nerve root irritation.

Electric Muscle Stimulation

This form of electric current is administered at the site of soft tissue injury, specially muscles, for the blocking of pain. Small amounts of current are applied to the injured area to reduce swelling and inflammation. Very effective after post-traumatic injuries, or exacerbated chronic conditions.
Patient benefits: Reduces pain sensation; decreases swelling; promotes general muscle tone; speed the healing process

Massage Therapy

Techniques using the hands, mechanical, or electrical apparatus to stimulate or soothe soft tissues of the body for therapeutic purposes. It can increase blood & lymph circulation while breaking up scar tissue between muscle fibers. It is helpful in overcoming the swelling & pooling of fluids at the site of recent injury or trauma.
Patient benefits: enhances joint and muscle function; improves circulation; increases metabolism; promotes the healing process.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as "adhesion's.")

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a bodywork technique that involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body. Sometimes massage and trigger point therapy are performed together. Trigger point therapy is also called myofascial trigger point therapy.

Corrective Exercises

We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises designed just for them to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 30 - 40%. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.

Paraffin Wax

Similar to other forms of superficial heat, it is used for small joints. Key benefit: Softens adhesion's.
Conditions Treated with Paraffin Bath: Non-acute arthritic joints, tenosynovitis, scars and contractures that limit motion.
